Super Tuesday not so super with still no clear winner for GOP nomination

Despite Romney appearing to win most states, Santorum, Paul and Gingrich still won enough to keep the the contest going strong. While Romney still continues to pull ahead of the pack, his movement is not dramatic enough to paint him as the clear winner; especially with Gingrich still in the race, winning Georgia, and Santorum continuing to build momentum winning 3 states.

Ron Paul is also showing signs that his influence on the race will continue, finishing 2nd place in North Dakota, Virginia, Vermont and Idaho; however, for anyone to beat Romney, it’s clear that at least one of the other three will need to put there support behind someone else. Unfortunately, none of the other three show any signs of giving up, yet.

Current Projected Delegate Count:

Another important fact to consider is that while these predictions are based on popular vote, what really matters are the delegates, and who they will ultimately stand behind. While Romney certainly has the most delegates at this point, he likely does not have as many as are currently predicted, and Ron Paul may actually be in second place. Unfortunately, this won’t be clear until the GOP national convention, and by then it’s likely the perception will out way the reality.
