2010 Election dates released for Texas

December 3 : First day to apply for a place on the ballot.
January 4 : Last day to apply for a place on the ballot.
February 1 : Last day to register to vote in the March Primary.
February 16 : First day of early voting.
February 26 : Last day of early voting.
March 2 : Primary election day.

Keep in mind that it is common for the primary elections to be the true deciding factor. Highly Republican areas will vote for the republican candidate, and the same holds true for Democrats. If you are in one of these areas, then the primaries are usually when the real debates are had and candidates decided. Get involved early, or what you will be lift with in November, may leave you disappointed with your options.
If you know of an incumbent who richly deserves a solid challenger in the primary, but doesn’t have a good one, you now have ONE MONTH to find a challenger and get that challenger on the ballot.
